Don't Cut Your Hair - An Honest Review of the Hair Detangling Services 5 product stars
"Sorry for the long review. My daughter said this reads like a college essay! Initially, I was shocked that I was the first person to provide a rating for this awesome hair detangling service. I am hoping that my review will give some comfort in saying you do not have to cut your hair if it is severely matted or tangled. The hair techs can help you save your hair no matter how bad it seems. In our case, my daughter had two major matted hair sections that I discovered when helping her comb her hair out. One started out the size of a golf ball and the other the size of my palm. My normal techniques to detangle didn t work. I then researched on the internet solutions and the Hair Detangle School was one of the options I reviewed. At that point, everything I did prior to making my appointment with them made it worse. We tried conditioners; oil, horse products, apple cider vinegar and had her take a shower hoping the water would loosen her knots. It made them tighter. I even ordered the same Take Down cream they use at the school. In my attempt to massage it in, I made the knots tighter and tighter, turning them into something that felt like hard stones when they dried. My lack of skill in working with the product made them worse. The product felt great on her hair, but I unknowingly was making them tighter with every squeeze. And my daughter s hair which hangs mid back was reduced to two clumps about 2 inches from her scalp. There was no sign of the ends of the hair. They were lost and appeared gone forever. If I had cut her hair, she would have had two very obvious sections that were a few inches long while the rest fell to the mid back level. Our tech Fatima was amazing! Her skill and understanding of hair began to show even before she started. She masterfully used Take Down cream and techniques to save my daughter s hair. She is professional, calming and has a wealth of experience. I highly recommend her and the service provided to get your life back on track. When she was done with my daughter s hair and the matted sections were gone, it felt like I could breathe for the first time in a week! As good as the service was, I do want to share my personal experiences as to why I was initially very skeptical of the detangling service being legitimate. Honestly, I thought it was a bit sketchy and I really stepped out on faith, because I booked my reservation without the assurances I normally have in making an appointment with a new business. My first confusion was that I came across Hair Detangling School and Tangled Hair Techs. I couldn t find a single review on either of them. That alone usually stops me in my tracks. Some of the videos they have seem a bit strange. It left me thinking do they really have a U.S. operation? There is a 206 area code, which seemed another disconnect to me. And finally, when I made the reservation, I received a confirmation from another salon I hadn t heard of. It contained no local telephone number and it said the suite number was 304. I had to send in another email to get a local number. I can honestly say, I paid the deposit, rented a vehicle, paid the airline tickets and paid the hotel having serious doubts if this business existed due to the disconnects. And even after driving directly from the airport to the location, my heart sank as the suite number on the confirmation was for a government building. My only relief came when I called the number again and was told the correct suite number in the same complex. Hopefully, you can see past these potential disconnects and focus on the end result. When I walked into the salon, all fears of this being a scam melted away. The lobby is beautiful. I heard and saw happy customers and we were warmly greeted. And our hair tech Fatima put us such at ease with her skills and warm nature, we found ourselves laughing and chatting the two days we were there. It was only after I learned more about the connection between matted hair, anxiety and depression that I realized why this wonderful service may not have any reviews. For some, having severely matted and tangled hair is debilitating. And when they do come for detangling services, it is likely a hush-hush situation where they don t want to relive it by giving a review. I wanted to share our experience because if you are like me, you may also be skeptical. You have to put aside the fear or concern that the business is not legitimate or that it falls short in its advertising methods or the philosophy that guides them. They are open to all clients who do not wish to cut their hair. The service works and we are thrilled that it does. You have to be realistic in that you are still going to lose some hair as you do when you are trying to work through your own tangles. But you do not have to cut your hair to move beyond this. Let the professionals handle it and you won t be sorry. We actually finished a bit early and treated ourselves to some local shopping!" Tara - 6/4/2018
Thank You 5 product stars
"It was hard to find the review section or else I would have left this sooner... A few weeks ago, I took out braids and immediately put my hair under water. I had no idea that this was the worst idea ever. My hair matted into huge irretrievable knots and balls. I tried every product in the store for detangling, went into the sauna at the gym, tried using scissors to attack the knots-all to no avail. Such a traumatic experience. After crying for hours, I called the Professional Hair Detanglers (who knew this was a thing?) and we came up with a schedule that worked over the weekend. I was pessimistic, I won't lie. What could they do that I hadn't tried? With patience and some not so gentle tactics, they got the matting and knots out in about 8 hours over the weekend and I couldn't be more grateful. The truth is: it wasn't cheap, it did hurt, you do lose some hair but it literally pales in comparison to what I would have loss if I cut it. Also the truth: I would have to cut my hair above my ears to get rid of the knots. I was able to wear it in regular styles the next week. I'd say it is worth the costs. The detangle tech was patient and reassuring throughout the entire process. Thank you! (If there is an area for before and after photos, I can definitely show the difference.)"
